Most bathroom infrared heaters use short-wave radiation to give you that instant “ahhh” feeling the second you step out of the shower. But there’s a catch. High-wattage quartz tubes usually come with a blinding glare that feels more like a stadium light than a cozy bathroom. We wanted to fix that. We design mirror infrared lamps that give you all the heat, but none of the eye strain—which is a big deal, especially if you’ve got babies in the house. The secret to the “soft glow” Standard halogen lamps throw out a messy mix of light, including a lot of visible light and UV. That’s what makes you squint. To stop that, we use special quartz envelopes and internal coatings. Think of it like a filter. It pushes the light away from those harsh blue tones and keeps the brightness below the point where it actually bothers you. You get the warmth on your skin, but your eyes stay relaxed. Heat vs. Light: The Balancing Act That mirror finish on the reflector? It’s not just for show. It actually bunches the IR rays into a tight beam. Because the heat is more concentrated right where you need it, we can actually lower the overall wattage of the lamp. Here’s why that matters: lower wattage means a dimmer light. If we used a wider beam, we’d have to crank up the heat to make it feel just as warm, and we’d be right back to that annoying glare. A few tips for the install When you’re wiring these in, take a second to make sure the reflectors are lined up perfectly. If the mirror is even slightly off, the beam wanders. When that happens, people usually try to compensate by cranking up the power, which just brings the glare back. Also, remember that these things get hot. Seriously hot. Make sure your housing has plenty of room for air to move around. If it’s too cramped, you’ll end up with warped plastic casings, and nobody wants that.
