But the trade-off is that blinding glare. Standard quartz halogen lamps throw out a huge range of light, including UV and high-intensity visible light. It’s tough on the eyes. And for babies, whose eyes aren&amp;rsquo;t fully developed yet, it&amp;rsquo;s actually a real problem.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;How we fix the light&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We don&amp;rsquo;t want the blinding light, just the heat. To get that, we mess with how the light comes out of the bulb. Instead of using a raw halogen filament, we use specialized coatings or doped quartz glass.&#xA;Think of it like a filter. It blocks the harsh blue light and UV rays but lets the infrared heat slide right through. You still get that cozy, dense heat that cuts through a damp bathroom, but without the &amp;ldquo;staring into a flashlight&amp;rdquo; feeling.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The hardware side of things&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;To keep the vibe soft, we usually go with lower-wattage filaments and pair them with mirrored reflectors. These mirrors do more than just push heat down; they focus the energy so it hits your skin just right.&#xA;But you have to be careful with the wattage. If you cram a high-wattage lamp into a tiny fixture, the housing gets scorching hot. If this is going into a home, the casing needs to be tough. It&amp;rsquo;s going to heat up and cool down thousands of times, and you don&amp;rsquo;t want the plastic warping after a few months.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The trade-off&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Here&amp;rsquo;s the catch: when you filter out the visible light to protect your eyes, the lamp doesn&amp;rsquo;t look as &amp;ldquo;bright.&amp;rdquo;&#xA;For most people, that&amp;rsquo;s exactly what they want. But it does mean you can&amp;rsquo;t tell if the heater is actually on just by looking at the bulb. If you need a way to show the user it&amp;rsquo;s working, just toss in a small LED indicator. Since the main bulb is now tuned for heat rather than light, the LED does the talking.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
